Sleep with SPACE A

Amelia Hunter from Space A speaks to us about all things SLEEP.

'Space A is a design & architecture duo and we exist to create human spaces that free us from optimised living. We're on a mission to unburden people from the anxieties of everyday life, and in its place, inject moments of magic. We believe in a world in which the joy of little things frees up space to tackle the big things.'

Amelia

I am 32, female, an architect and I love sailing and drawing. I co-founded Studio Space A with my best friend - Anna Drakes. We design + deliver home interiors and exteriors with a sprinkle of joy.

What is your sleep environment/bedroom like?

It is underground with 4m high ceilings and overlooking an intimate sunken courtyard garden.

What do you usually do in the evening?

We like to get into bed early and listen to an audiobook. At the moment we are listening to 'The Secret Commonwealth' by Philip Pullman - it is brilliant and a perfect aid to disconnect from the worries of the day.

How long does it take for you to fall asleep?

I usually get to sleep very quickly (much to my husband's annoyance!)

Do you have sleep affirmations?

It is important to me to disconnect myself from my mobile phone - we charge our phones in the living room and try to not touch the phone an hour before bedtime.

What is the best dream you've ever had and has it come true?

I once had a dream where I was walking through a series of incredible spaces - each colourful and ethereal in character. They had cathedral-like ceilings and embodied different emotions. Yes I would hope it has come true - at Space A we design lots of different types of spaces - all intended to inherently connect with their owner - bringing fulfillment & joy.

Currently Amelia is working from this cosy and quaint guest bedroom at a house in Anglesey, which she and her husband have privately rented through Boltholes and Hideaways (http://www.boltholesandhideaways.co.uk)
